PROJECTS

BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY

- RESTAURANT AND BAR

As they have infrastructures (stone houses), with a few equipment they will be able to cook, serve drinks and get money directly from tourists.

Last year, with an investment of 50$, price of a blender bought on site, they could manage to serve fresh drinks and get few dollars by themself, instead of seeing tourists going on the same bar every days and nights, that belong to a south African and Australian guy.

This time, Life Steppers is going to help them building a real restaurant and bar less than 100 meters away from the beach. This place called by them « African Barbecue » will get from Life Steppers tools and equipment: Blenders, bagging machine, chef tools, fridge, Donation and self-investment will make us reach this action.

- BOATS

In Zanzibar, the main activity is fishing. The ocean is full of fish, and it is the biggest food resource. A boat, made of mango tree, (about 7 meters) is impossible to afford by natives if there are not from a fisher family.

Life Steppers will invest into 3 boats.

First of all, thanks to a boat, a captain can rent it to some fisherman that has no boat and share the fishing of the day to get food for more than one family. The boat can be us as well as a touristic activity. To rent a boat with his captain, for a 3-4 hours trip (fishing or not), it costs about 20 to 30$. The island is so windy, and those boats, made like catamarans, are fast, funny, and the trip is one of the most enjoyable you can have, mostly when you come back during sunset. With 3 boats, and an investment of about 2000$, it will be for the natives, the main source of activity.

All the things that you are throwing away have a second life in Africa. Most of the time those things are impossible to afford for them, even broken.Instead of going to the garbage, or to companies that has an hand on the African Market selling back what you give to them, Life Steppers will take care of redistribute it partially to everyone.

SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

- EDUCATIVE AND CULTURAL HOUSE

In Paje there is a common house where people can meet and share.

This house is about 100m2. This place is empty. The only activity is talking or taking drugs around.

Life stepper’s wants to give them the opportunity to enjoy different things thanks to tools and equipment. With books, board games like chess or backgammon, cards, tv and dvds, music instruments, it will be simple to implement a schedule with different activities regarding their taste.

No more waiting doing nothing, they will be able to learn, practice or just enjoy a simple amusement. Give them once a week a movie night, like they are at the cinema, give them drums or a guitar like their favourite reggae hero, give them the most interesting books you have read, give them a chess game, give them pens and papers, and they will find by themselves skills they never thought they had due to the lake of materials.

- CHILDCARE

In Africa, contraception is not known. There is more than 5 Childs per family. The village abounds of children’s.

Most of them are not going to school because it is too expensive for a native family.Life steppers want to care about them as much as we can.

Education and sports will be the focuses. It will be possible and simple to lead a recreative schedule so they are not out by themselves. The ideas are to mix child and adults around activities. Sport, like football, educative like language lessons thanks to equipment will bring there.

Childs are the future and we will concentrate most of our energy for them.

Teaching will be as well a big part of the time spent with the youths.

KNOW-HOW EXPERTISE

We call it the RSW potential as energy system. (Rain, Sun, Wind)

As Zanzibar is an island where rain abond, sun is shining 12 month a year, and wind is real strong, we are going to focus on your expertise to help the people from Paje to get their energy from those elements instead of buying electricity.

- RAINWATER HARVESTING

Rainwater harvesting is the accumulation and deposition of rainwater for reuse before it reaches the aquifer. Uses include water for garden, water forlivestock, water for irrigation, and indoor heating for houses etc.. In many places the water collected is just redirected to a deep pit with percolation. The harvested water can be used as drinking water as well as for storage and other purpose like irrigation.

- SOLAR PANEL

A solar panel is a set of solar photovoltaic modules electrically connected and mounted on a supporting structure. A photovoltaic module is a packaged, connected assembly of solar cells. The solar panel can be used as a component of a larger photovoltaic system to generate and supply electricity in commercial and residential applications

- WIND POWER

Wind power is the conversion of wind energy into a useful form of energy, such as using wind turbines to make electrical power, windmills for mechanical power, windpumps for water pumping or drainage, or sails to propel ships.
